Roselle Mateus (ロゼル・マティウス Rozeru Matiusu?) was the second male to join the Rune Angel Troupe. Due to his superb piloting skills, he was selected to pilot the prototype mass-production Emblem Frame, Holy Blood. He learned his piloting skills for the sake of his sister, Bianca, so he would be able to take her on a space flight without having her become spacesick.
Interestingly, Roselle either caused or did not cause a problem between Kazuya and his girlfriend depending on which Angel's romantic storyline the player was playing. In Apricot's storyline, Kazuya mistakenly thought Roselle was a romantic rival because Roselle seemed much cooler than Kazuya was, prompting Kazuya to become overprotective of Apricot and to attempt to make himself "cooler," irritating Apricot. In Lily's storyline, Roselle was a non-issue. In Nano-Nano Pudding's storyline, Roselle did not cause any romantic problems, but Nano-Nano Pudding reminded Roselle of his deceased little sister, Bianca, and Nano-Nano Pudding even used her shape-shifting powers to look like Bianca at one point to cheer Roselle up. In Anise's storyline, Roselle really was a romantic rival (unlike in Apricot's storyline, where it was just Kazuya being insecure). This is because Roselle happened to be good at sports and competitions, which means he was able to compete at a higher level against Anise than Kazuya was, a trait Anise admired. Kahlua's storyline was an interesting case. Kahlua remained attracted to Kazuya, but her alter-ego, Tequila, found Roselle attractive, which meant that Roselle was sort of half a romantic rival. He apparently dies at the end of the game when he releases the Chrono Strings from the engine of Holy Blood to kill the final boss, Parfait.
In Galaxy Angel II Eigō Kaiki no Toki, it is revealed that Roselle was still alive and had been brainwashed by Will. However, he returned to normal and rejoined the crew on Luxiole. In all the endings, he is seen talking to Kazuya right before his partner arrives.
