Galaxy Angel is the TV anime series adaptation of the Galaxy Angel games created by BROCCOLI's as part of their Project G.A. multi-platformed project. Co-produced by BROCCOLI, Madhouse and Bandai Visual, the series premiered from April 7 to 29 September 2001 on Animax Japan, each episode produced for a runtime of 12 minutes.
The series also simulcasted in Japan on TV Osaka and other TXN stations. Internationally, the series has been broadcast by Animax and its respective networks worldwide, including its English language networks in Southeast Asia and South Asia, and its other networks in Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea and Latin America.
While it was supposed to be an adaptation of the visual novel, the game's delay in production led to the creation of the slapstick comedy. The main plot is non-existent in favor of an episodic style and is arguably the most popular media of the franchise. As such, the anime continued with numerous sequels through the following and like the 1st series, each episode is comprised of 2 segment whose title references food.

Trivia[]
- Galaxy Angel is often abbreviated to '"Gyagure"' (ギャグレ ) by Japanese fans, due to the logo repeatedly being broken down or otherwise altered to "Gyagure" during the opening animation for Galaxy Angel X.
- '"Gyagu"' (ギャグ ) means gag. And '"re" (レ ) means imperative form. So, '"Gyagure" (ギャグレ ) ≒"Show an interesting joke".
